Nov. 15, 2007 – Thirty-seven Rotarians and guests were present for this program which featured a cd on Ecuador where our Club participated in raising funds for the Potable Water project. Carl Askew, ADG, who has visited in Ecuador, indicates that there is a plague up with our Club name acknowledging participation in the project. Carl was present as a visiting Rotarian.  Other guests included the Student of the Month for Sept. and Nov.  Fred Johnson introduced history teacher Bill Switala, who in turn introduced Gabe Robinson.  Gabe, who is a champion bowler and active in student theatre productions, achieved a level 5 in the state wide history exams.  He plans to pursue a degree in history of education at a four year institution.  Fred introduced math teacher and basketball coach, Ray Moyer, who in turn introduced Westin Huffmam, an member of the basketball and the football teams, who plans to attend Susquehanna in the fall, studying management and finance.  Tom Gates, President of the Selinsgrove Area Youth Foundation, presented a $5000 special project award to The Eastern Snyder County Recreation Association.  Brenda Moyer, president of the grass roots group that has developed the park, spoke about the project successes to date and the plan to complete Phase I of the project by the fall of ’08.  Also present from the association were Pete Dwyer and Michele Sears.  Because of a matching grant they hold, the SAYF gift will be doubled in value, for a total of $10,000.

Announcements: *Ken Miller reminds us that leaf raking will occur from 9 to noon on Sat. at Rotary field. Bring a tarp and a rake with you. **Joyce Anderson announced the selection of the Christmas Family – a mother with two special needs sons.  Money for the purchase of presents, clothing, a tree and decorations will be needed by the 29th of Nov.  If you wish to purchase gift on your own, see Joyce for suggestions. Ken Wagner will deliver the tree to the family and Kendra Aucker and her daughters will assist with purchasing items. ***Nov. events for your calendar include: 11/20 at 7 p.m. Community tree lighting, High and Pine Sts.; 11/29, 5 to 7 p.m. Pottieger House and Klienbauers’s GSVCC After Hours Event – Chestnut St.; 11/30 – opening night of the Tree Fest.

Sergeant at Arms: Jeff Edmunds collected fines as follows: big one from Art Bowen for his Birthday today; from Fred Johnson (his guests and good things happening); John Fischer (park guests, AZ trip); Ken Miller (hunting and new grandson); Mike Hayes (Philly marathon with Tom Gates); Nelson Bailey (Jerry’s mother); and Earl Ferster (fines and park).

Dec. 6 – Holiday Party, 6 to 7 p.m. social; 7 p.m. dinner and entertainment. SVCC, partners and guests very welcome. Sign up sheet circulating.  Art Bowen hosts.

Dec. 13 – Hal Schriver has arranged for this program with the ’07 Free Enterprise Week graduates from Selinsgrove High School – Courtney Schrey, Kilene Smith; Andrew Snook.  Guidance Counselor Chris Lupolt will also be present, SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

Dec. 20 – TBA, SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

Dec. 27 – TBA, SVCC, 11:45 a.m.   Maybe no meeting since this is between the holidays?
