April 10, 2008 – Twenty-nine Rotarians and a guest (Mike Damiano’s friend Sandy Bieber) were present for Rotarian Michael Damiano’s talk, Understanding Volatile Markets.  The change to this topic occurred because his Pastor was too ill to be present at today’s meeting. Covering topics such as inflation, Real Estate, and recession looked at from an historical perspective, the advice is that people should invest for the long term, purchasing quality products, and being sure their portfolio is diverse and not all in one market sector.  In preparation for the GSE Team visit and with Leo Mendonca’s assistance the members “practiced” some Portuguese phrases such as “Oi, tudo beni?” (Hi, how are you?) and “Meu nome e’….”(My name is…..).  President Bickhart spoke about Bob Burd and his many contributions to both the Club and the community at large.
