This Week: March 20, 2008 – Amy Melillo, SU Class of ’08, will present a summer camp case study, which is her senior honor’s project. Dr. Anne Reeves, Head of SU’s Education Department, will be present to introduce Amy. SVCC,

March 6, 2008 – Twenty-eight Rotarians and guests enjoyed a presentation by Rachel Albright, Community Development Director for the Northern Tier – Greater Susquehanna Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org ). Rachel shared a series of questions with facts/figures regarding arthritis prevalence and discussed the Foundation’s mission (research/prevention-cure/ treatment, public health/education, and fundraising). The GSV Valley Arthritis Walk (5K or 1 mile options) was noted, which will take place on Saturday, May 17th, at St. Mary’s Street park in Lewisburg. Registration opens at 9:30 AM with the walk beginning at 10:30 AM. This year’s walk will honor Carly, a local child afflicted with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). The walk integrates fun and fundraising into a single event. Vice President Jeff Edmunds presided. Guests: Shane Hendricks.

Announcements: This year’s Distinguished Service recognition dinner will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the SVCC. *We will host the GSE Team from Brazil April 13-19. The District continues to seek applications for the out-going team.**Dates of District Conference – April 11-13.***Distribution of Daffodils will occur on March 27.****

Sergeant At Arms:  Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: Jeff Reber (b-day), John Stokinger (leaving early, etc.), John Fischer (Myrtle Beach and beat Tom Gates), Michael Damiano (daughter inducted into NHS), Don Harnum (leaving early), Ken Miller (Rotary field tree work), Hal Schriver (debate at SU), Michael Hayes (John Fischer/Toby Skinner), Shawn Felty (trip to FL), and Earl Ferster (+15). Konrad Kempfe reported on Rotary’s efforts world-wide to eliminate polio.

New Member proposed: Shane Hendricks, local business person, 112 N. Front St.  Any objections should be conveyed to President Bickhart within 3 days of this notice.
