March 6, 2008 – Twenty-three Rotarians and guests were present for lunch at Emma’s Food for Life, 11 South Market Street, Selinsgrove, followed by a presentation by co-owner/chef Emma Renninger on the philosophy of the restaurant and its use of local organically grown ingredients and healthy eating.  Opened by Emma and partner Nick Charles 11 months ago, the menu changes 4 times a year (spring menu starts 4/1) so that fresh local foods can be featured.  Guests: John Fischer’s wife, Carolyn and Don Summers’ wife Krista. 

Announcements: This year’s Distinguished Service recognition dinner is scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the SVCC. *We will host the GSE Team from Brazil April 13-19. The District continues to seek applications for the out-going team.**Dates of District Conference – April 11-13.***Distribution of Daffodils will occur on March 27.****Ken Miller reports that Eastern Tree Service is donating tree trimming and clean up services at Rotary Field.

Sergeant At Arms:  Konrad Kempfe collected fines as follows: John Fischer (wife’s presence and Myrtle Beach trip); Fred Johnson and John Bickhart (happy to be in downtown Selinsgrove); Charlie McCuen (someone else from Philly); ; Mark Johnson (neighbors); Harry Derr and Mike Hayes (leaving early) and some missed by editor, and Earl Ferster (+15).

New Member proposed: Shane Hendricks, local business person, 112 N. Front St.  Any objections should be conveyed to President Bickhart within 10 days of this notice.

March 27 – Dawn Warren, Northwestern Family Services, will speak on Therapeutic family Care. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
April 3 – Club Assembly – Please be prepared to report on your committee’s activities. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
April 10 – Michael Damiano will speak on a mission trip to Panama, partially supported by the Club. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
