May 29, 2008 Thirty-three Rotarians and guests were present to hear from Pastor Dave Wilcox about the team that completed a January, ‘08 mission trip to Panama.  Funding from the Selinsgrove Club helped pay for the trip as well as 50 school packs and hygiene kits distributed to children.  A team of 15 that included Global Mission Pastor Bill Miller and Assistant Mission Pastor Shirley Helman as well as Rotarian Mike Damiano, assisted in putting a roof on an expanded church in Tocumen, Panama City and in visiting with Cuna peoples on an island of three thousand inhabitants.  John Fischer has two visiting Rotarian guests from the Colonial Park Club, Dr. Rod Tunno and Norm Hessel.

Announcements: Selinsgrove Club’s Annual Chicken Barbeque will occur on June 7, tickets have been distributed (10 dinner/6 halves = $94) per member, money is to be returned by June 5; sign-up sheet for volunteers for the 7th is being circulated. SELL THOSE Tickets! (Remember, if you haven’t sold them, you’ve bought them.)*Rotary Foundation contributions due by June 30.**Ken Miller asks for help anytime next Thursday to prune trees at Rotary Field.  Thanks to Bob Soper for planting flowers around the field sign.  Gratitude and thanks to Shane Hendricks for the work at the Field that has improved drainage and made the field ready for approval by Little League International. Shane shared before and after pictures and thanked Pete DeWire and the Prices’ for their work at the field.  A tournament will occur June 28 – 30.  Rotary may decide to operate concession stand for this program – more later.***Next current Board Meeting is June 3 at 7:30 a.m. at the Kind Café.

Sergeant-at-arms:  Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: from himself (daughter Amy and he have opened new business, Edible Arrangements, in State College); John Fischer (guests and leaving early); Joyce Anderson (Bob Fogle back and well); Bob Fogle (successful surgery); Art Bowen (two new grandchildren expected); Fred Johnson (for Shanes work and building approval soon); Rod Tunno (bulava watch); Charlie McCuen (poem to father); Bob Soper (pool painting and picture of Joe Kleinbauer painting); Steva Stowell-Hardcastle (step daughter’s gold medal in track and new vet associate); Chris Kenawell (Pious opening); Hal Dunkleberger (cousin’s graduation) and Earl Ferster (Bob back and plus $25).

June 12 – Classification talks by Shane Hendricks and Charlie McCuen, SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
June 19 – Rotary Family Picnic, 6 p.m. at Anthony Selin Park (Pump House if rains). Sign up sheet will be circulated.
June 26 – Installation of 08-09 Officers and Directors and presentation of Paul Harris Awards.  SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
July 3 – No meeting. Happy July 4th holiday.
