This Week: July 31, 2008 – Official visit of new District Governor James Gruber, followed by a brief Board Meeting with the DG. This is a business attire occasion. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

July 24, 2008 – Twenty-six Rotarians and guests were present for Executive Director Gary Bloss’s presentation about the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. Judy Spiegel introduced Gary who in turn described the partnership and its activities to improve quality of life, community connection, and healthy life styles. The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership recognizes that the Susquehanna River as an asset of timeless value, shared memories and experiences. More information can be found at www.susquehannagreenway.org.  President Mike introduced new member Donald Trappe. Living out the 4-way test example: reported by John Stokinger – 14 Rotarians helped with hotdog night at the Gazebo this past Tuesday. Joyce Anderson introduced Gwen Anderson, her 5th grade granddaughter.

Announcements: The Club website went live on July 1 – http// www.selinsgroverotary.org. Check it out and follow procedures to obtain access to the membership list and information.*President Mike circulated a sheet with suggestion committee revisions – please call him or e-mail him with committee choices.***Rotary International information about matching the 100 million Gates Foundation Polio Plus grant can be obtained by e-mailing contact .center@rotary.org. ***Konrad Kempfe and John Fischer report that Carlene and Fred Schreck are hospitalized with health problems in Canada.****Konrad reports that the Rotary International Foundation speaker in Lewisburg was very informative and interesting.

Sergeant-at-arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: Mike Hayes (4 Way Test example, Joyce’s return and good health); Judy Spiegel (partner who shares parenting and daughter’s being wrestling all American after North Dakota National Meet); John Stokinger (camping with 3 ½ and 4 year old grandchildren); Ken Miller (Selinsgrove and granddaughter’s success with soccer in an “off year”); Brian Burke (beer fest conversation about Irene’s); Mary Peterhaensel (back from Scandinavian Festival); John Fischer (keep Schreck’s in your thoughts and picture in paper); Don Summers (late); Joyce Anderson (guests); Gwen Anderson (learned to do flips in pool); Charlie McCuen (moving sister to Selinsgrove); Fred Johnson (building progress despite mud, Bob Soper and learning more about the Foundations) and Earl Ferster (way more than $15)

Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe told members about Rotarians helping with mid-west flooding in Cedar Rapids, with fire victims in Paradise, California and Basra, Iraq, Amman, Jordan, Washington DC Clubs cooperating with prosthesis project.

Aug. 28 – An International Education Program presented by Prof. Henrietta Loub, Unisia University, South Africa. Leo Mendonca is the host. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
