June 26, 2008 – With John Stokinger presiding, thirty-four Rotarians and guests were present for this special meeting featuring the presentation of a double sapphire Paul Harris Fellow to Jack Roush by DG Corbett Monica and the induction of the 08-09 Rotary Board as we prepare to start a new Rotary year. Jack indicates he is going for a third! In addition to the DG, guests included District Governor Elect James Gruber and his wife, Darles (both members of the Ashland Club), Carl Askew, DG Nominee, Sunbury Club representative Ned Clark, and proposed new member Dr. Donald Tripp. The meeting took place in the Fireplace Room. DG Elect Gruber will be installed on Sunday. DG Monica announced that petitions for two new Clubs have been filed – Mifflinburg and River Valley, which will raise district numbers to 985. Dottie Anderson installed the officers and directors and President Michael Hayes. Mike spoke in a very inspiring manner about his plans for the year (which include giving meaning to the 4 Way Test and developing an international program in Brazil), before adjourning the meeting. 

Announcements: Remember to check out the website www.rotary.siretesting.com to give Shawn Felty and Mick Flock feedback as this is being developed.*Little League tournaments/games are scheduled to occur June 28, 29 and July 5 at Rotary Field. Club members are asked to volunteer in two hour shifts from noon to 6 on all thee days to operate the concession stand. This will be the Club’s way of thanking the Selinsgrove Area Little League for the materials used to update the field. Be in touch with Shane Hendricks asap.**On the agenda to discuss, should we continue to try to do a Family Picnic given having the cancel last week’s due to lack of sign-ups?***Sunbury Club’s annual car show and chicken barbeque is on Saturday. All are welcome to attend.

Sergeant-at-arms:   Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: Happy BD to the Club (81st); from John Fischer (thanking everyone for their support on the loss of Carolyn); Tom Stem (25th wedding anniversary); Mike Damiano (family involvement in National Youth Leadership); Toby Skinner (successful mission trip to Biloxi and safe return); James Gruber (Sunday’s installation and family support); Mark Johnson (successful completion of quality certification for company and winning the structural steel contract for the elementary school); John Stokinger (Mountains for Mortals dedication); Donna Long (back and company changes); Mary Peterhaensel (went to non-picnic and good health); Jerry Rhoades (survived Yard Sale); and John Stokinger (Earl’s + $15).
