                                        Make Dreams Real

Vol. 82, No. 17                   President – Michael P. Hayes           Editor – Dottie Anderson

****************************************************************

This Week: November 6, 2008 – Steve Richard, SUN Home Health CEO, is the speaker, hosted by Jan Wilson. Nominating Committee to Report. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

Oct. 30, 2008 – Thirty-six Rotarians and guests were present to hear Joe McGranaghan, Chair of the GSV Chamber of Commerce Transportation Task Force, speak about the current status of the Susquehanna Valley Thruway Project. With help from local legislative leaders such as Chris Carney, active efforts have led to the Appalachian Regional Commission considering swapping miles within the state that would allow that authority to provide funding for both the north and the south portions of the Thruway.  It remains crucial for Penn Dot to remove the project from “hibernation” in order for the design phase to continue.  The Governor and all other elected area officials have done what has been asked of them to date, so keeping our eye on what happens with the ARC at their Jan. meeting and writing letters to thank legislators for their assistance to date is the only action to be taken at this time.  Art Bowen, with assistance from sponsor John Stokinger, inducted Jennifer Johnston, Snyder County Library Selinsgrove Librarian, as a new member. Other guests included Dan Derr of the Clinical Outcomes Group (Kendra Aucker’s guest), Pat Pinkowski, retired Nursing Administrator from the East Stroudsburg area (Mike Hayes’ guest), and Patricia Rueckel Libhart and Carmen Neuberger from the Wash., DC area (friends of Dottie Anderson).  President used missing candy for the Halloween Parade as a four way test example.
