Feb. 26, 2009 –33 members and guests, including new members, Bill Clark and Pat Pinkowski were in attendance to hear Lynn Miller, Chief Administrative Officer of Geisinger Medical Center.  Ms. Miller explained how the current economic times have affected GMC.  While many health care organizations have delayed major projects, GMC decided to proceed with the completion of their new Hospital for Advanced Medicine which is due to open in the Spring of 2010.  With a focus on cardiac care, this newest addition to the GMC campus will be 9 stories high and will garner a LEED certification as a “Green Building”.  13 teams consisting of 90 employees participated in designing the new building.  Ms. Miller also shared with Rotarians that President Obama’s desire to increase the level of health care available to Americans is actually striving to raise the general level of health care to the levels we are all accustomed to in the greater Susquehanna Valley. The many hospitals in our region afford us access to a high level of health care.
