Next Meeting: March 12, 2009 – District Governor James Gruber will be the speaker for “Pin Day” and the induction of two new members.  All Rotarians are urged to wear their Rotary pins.  SVCC – 11:45 AM.  A note to All Board Members: meeting with DG Gruber will follow the regular meeting.

             

Mar. 5, 2009 – Twenty-four members and guests were in attendance to hear Andrew Miller, the Executive Director of Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau, describe the process and results of the marketing/re-branding study that led to adding “River” to the visitor’s bureau name and the tag line “every turn a treasure.” Tourism is second only to agriculture for the economy of Snyder, Union, and Northumberland counties. Mr. Miller enthusiastically described the work of the bureau to maintain and increase tourism, sharing new brochures about heritage, antiquing, post office art, etc. Marv Rudnitsky introduced his guest, Dan Eichinger. Two 4 way test stories: substitute editors Kendra and Mike and Charlie McCuen’s contribution to the Polio Plus Globe.

Announcements: The secretary position for the ‘09-‘10 Board is open. PLEASE SPEAK WITH President Elect, Jeff Edmunds ASAP if you are interested in this position.*A sign up sheet is circulating for the Distinguished Service Award Dinner, April 16 – please invite your guests and mark your calendar to attend this special Rotary Event.**See Bob Soper for additional information and encouragement about attending the District Conference.***The Club has received acknowledgement from the United Way for its contribution to the campaign; Rotary hats available, see Konrad Kempfe; district newsletter is available.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: himself (his guest); Mary Peterhaensel (visiting grandkids); Don Summers (late); Hal Schriver (back and feeling well); Dan Eichinger (happy to visit and he’s a former Rotarian); Joyce Anderson (daffodils in honor of St. David’s Day and all the Welsh members of the Club – lots); Earl Ferster (plus $15 and Daffodil Days sign up soon).             .
