Mar. 19, 2009 – Thirty-two members and guests were present as Chris Kerwin and John Deppen described the “Wreaths for Veterans” program. Based on the Arlington Cemetery project, Chris has the initial idea in 2006 and, 10 days before Christmas, inspired John Deppen to join with him.  Seventy-five wreaths were placed at the graves of veterans in Northumberland’s Riverview Cemetery in that year.  In 2007, with more folks involved, wreaths were placed at 670 graves and military monuments.  In 2008, throughout Snyder, Union and Northumberland Counties, there were 1100 wreaths placed on Dec. 7. Kohl’s Stony Hill Tree Farm is a major contributor each year, so that a single wreath costs only $6.00. Donations for 2009 program may be sent to Joe Hutton, Treasurer;
