April 9, 2009 – Thirty members and guests were present to hear Sue Greene, Associate Director of Penn State Continuing Education, speak about the ways in which the Williamsport office is of service to a seven                     county area. The staff serves as the conduit to Penn State and the courses, workshops, work force training, planning assistance than can be provided through Penn State. In introducing Sue, John Bickhart noted that she viewed her position as enabling her to give back to the region. Previously Sue worked at Time Markets, Rea and Derrick, and Evangelical Hospital. Jeff Edmunds presided in the absence of President Mike. Guests included Charlie McCuen’s wife, Sharon and Tom Gates grandson, Peter Kissinger.

Announcements: Rotarians will be receiving an invitation to the June 4 fifteenth anniversary celebration for the Selinsgrove Area Youth Foundation to be held at the SSVC.*John Bickhart has the globe for this week.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows: Happy Birthday to Fred Johnson and Bob Soper; himself (Fort Knox JAG anniversary and Penn State basketball); John Stokinger (Yankees 0/2); Tom Gates (month in Myrtle Beach and he and Mike Hayes signed up for the Marine Corp marathon next Oct.); Ken Miller (Chicago, Colorado and visits with grandkids); Nelson Bailey (great music in church last Sun.); Charlie McCuen (wife here and trip with sister to DC); Fred Johnson (building on schedule); Joyce Anderson (band concert and staff of the school); and Earl Ferster (+$15 and 54th wedding anniversary).

April 30 – Dr. Alicia Jackson, Dean of the Sigmund Weis School of Business of Susquehanna University will be the speaker. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

May 7 – Snyder County Commissioners will be our speakers.  Paul Spiegel is host. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

May 14 – Selinsgrove Area School District Highlights, 08-09, presented by Superintendent Dr. Fred Johnson. SVCC, 11:45 A.M.
