April 16, 2009 – Seventy plus members and guests were present for the 25th Annual Distinguished Service Award Presentation and Dinner.  With Don Harnum serving as MC, honoree Eric L. Rowe received accolades from Keri Albright, ED of the GSVUW (Eric has been on the board for many years and serves as First Vice Chair), Dr. Robert Witten of the CSIU (Eric is President of this board since 2001), Bob Gronlund, CEO of Wood-Mode Inc (Eric is Admin to the Director of Manufacturing), and Fred Johnson, Superintendent of the Selinsgrove Area School District. Eric has been a member of the School Board for 16 years, serving as President since 1999. In addition to spouses and/or partners of members, other guests included DG James Gruber and his wife Darcy, members of the Rowe family (Eric’s mother, Shirley and his brother Kim and family, Eric’s daughter, his companion, Julie, the Kleinbauers, Norm Rich, members of the School Board, the Whitman’s and Klingler’s, and Randy Shroyer.  Joe Kleinbauer and Randy Shroyer for Habitat were recognized as previous recipients of the Distinguished Service Award.  President Mike and Mike Flock, Chair of the DSA Committee, presented the award to Eric noting his commitment to family, community, education and public service. In accepting the award, Eric said he was thrilled and honored, and thanked his family, friends and those he’s worked with for the lessons he has learned from them. He is especially appreciative to Wood-Mode for the way in which they have made his efforts outside of work possible.  Rotary is proud to salute Eric for his “service above self” and the way in which he has striven to do the “right thing” in all areas of his life.

May 7 – Snyder County Commissioners will be our speakers.  Paul Spiegel is host. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

May 14 – Selinsgrove Area School District Highlights, 08-09, presented by Superintendent Dr. Fred Johnson. SVCC, 11:45 A.M.

May 21 – 08-09 Scholarship recipients will provide the program. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

May 28 – Judy Spiegel will speak about the work of Selinsgrove Projects, Inc., SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
