June 4, 2009 – Thirty plus Rotarians and guests were present to here Richard Smith, Chief Operating Officer of Evangelical Community Hospital, speak about the strategic planning process that has led to identifying key initiatives for growth and or change/elimination in the services of the hospital.  Over time we will see growth in cardiovascular services, orthopedic care, women’s health, and new physicians: ENT, Spine surgeon, vascular surgeon. Home Health will transition from the hospital to another agency, as will the home health pharmacy. Mr. Smith was introduced by his colleague and Rotarian, Kendra Aucker. He is originally from Baltimore, completing degrees at Morgan State and Univ. of Maryland. Following 18 years in the Air Force, he has worked in health administration for almost 30 years. Mr.Smith gave three happy dollars to Rotary for the invitation, happy to be reminded of the values of Rotary, and its not raining. Chris Kenawell introduced his guest, former Rotarian Kevin Waple, a commercial lending officer with M & T Bank.
