Next Meeting: July 30th – T B A – SVCC,

July 23, 2009 Rotarians and guests listened to Richard Sowers who provided a background of the Packwood House Museum in Lewisburg.  This property is one of the oldest properties in Lewisburg and was expanded a number of times over the years.  It was used for apartments, a tavern and eventually a 27-room private residence.  The owner was rather eccentric and over the years acquired hundreds of artifacts and antiques of central Pennsylvania.  In 1976 it opened as a museum to preserve all that the owner had collected.  Throughout the year the Packwood House Museum runs a number of programs for the community at large.  They also have several major exhibits each year.  Currently, they have a display of quilts, all from central Pennsylvania craft persons.   For more information about the Packwood House Museum go to www.packwoodhousemuseum.com
