July 30, 2009 – Thirty-two Rotarians and guests were present as Jessica Newell and Mike Hayes shared information about the Savor Selinsgrove event.  John Thompson, a retired physician and former Rotarian, was present having located our Club through our Web Site. Shawn Felty introduced his guest, Sumer Botdorf, member of the Sire Advertising staff.  General conclusion is that Savor Selinsgrove should continue, perhaps with a different date, less tickets printed, more extensive advertising.  The event profited $1586.40, split between Rotary for our Brazil project and SPI, Inc for the Commons project.

Being planned is an evening at the movies program, possibly the third Thursday of August, at the Commons. Plan is to do one this summer and then doing it regularly next summer.  Committee includes Jessica, Mike, Jennifer Johnston and Mike Fleming.

               

Announcements: Ken Miller reported that the concern about midget football and Rotary field use is resolved.*Joyce Anderson and Konrad Kempfe are coordinating assistance to a family in need of furniture, washer/drier, etc.  Please be in touch with Joyce if you can offer anything including use of a truck to deliver furniture.**Jeff Edmunds distributed Rotary MasterCard flyer and 09-10 Directories from District. Hal Dunkelberger distributed attendance sheet.

Sergeant at arms:Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: from John Stokinger (parents visiting from Maine); Mike Flock (36th wedding anniversary and Campers at pond); Pat Pinkowskie (going on vacation);Bill Clark (SUN Home Health Golf Tournament and lots of family participating); Dottie Anderson (back and recovering); John Fischer (surviving more in-law meetings); Mike Pietuck (daughter enjoyed Kid’s College and CT vacation); Art Bowen (Bowen family reunion); Mike Hayes (Madrid trip was wonderful; SSDC and Rotary in Madrid); Charlie McCuen (son’s continuing grad school in Tokyo and Montreal trip); Mary Peterhaensel (daughter’s wedding next Sat.); Jerry Rhoades (AZ visitors and son’s return); Shawn Felty (guest and golf); Jeff Edmunds (return home after wonderful travels and NYC and daughter’s birthday); Marv Rudnitsky (Chicago next week); and Earl Ferster (plus $15 and Dottie’s return).

Good News of Rotary: Zimbabwe project for digging water wells and providing new vegetables and trees being done by Rotarians from several countries.

August 27 – Sharon Koppell, from Snyder, Union, Mifflin Child Development will be the speaker. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
