August 27, 2009 – Twenty-seven Rotarians and guests were present to hear Sharon Koppel, Director of Snyder Union Mifflin Child Development, Inc. talk about the importance of early childhood education (all brain connections for learning are developed before age 6) and potential ways Rotary could contribute (help sponsor childcare for a middle income family; purchase equipment and/or books for a center, sponsor staff recognition event; become involved with a community engagement team; and urge businesses to become involved since most workers dependent on early childhood care).
Announcements: Movie Night in the Commons is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., tonight, Thursday, August 27. Bring a chair, something to drink and good humor for a night with the Three Stooges.
