December 10, 2009 – Thirty plus Rotarians and guests (John Fischer’s wife, Gail and Bill Reibschied’s wife, Dr. Nalan Reibschied) were in attendance for this program featuring a Rotary magazine video about an inspiring literacy program in Brazil, as arranged by Konrad Kempfe. Major success has been achieved by using a special methodology that fully engages the students. Donna Schuck presided. DG Carl Askew was present to install new members Justin Troup (sponsor Joyce Anderson) and William Reibschied (sponsor Art Bowen).   

Announcements: Remember to visit Tree Fest between now and 12/18 at All Saints. *Hal Schriver says the schedule for Rotarians to Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army this holiday season is full. A hardy thank you to all who have/or who will help. **The Audit (Committee: Ken Miller, Earl Ferster, Hal Schriver) is in process.***Joyce Anderson is collecting funds to buy food and presents for Club’s Christmas Family, identified by elementary school personnel. They have five children – 6,7,2 10 year olds, and a 14 year old.****Ken Miller is seeking a person to hire to take care of any necessary snow removal at Rotary Field.*****Jack Rousch urges everyone to read the Paul Harris article in the latest Rotary magazine.******Bob Soper found the original description of the Distinguished Service Award which clearly states that Rotarians are not eligible for this award. Rotarians can be recognized by the Service Above Self award.*******Bob Soper has made copies of John Deppen’s remarks on Pearl Harbor for anyone who would like to share that information with children and grandchildren.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows:  (Donna noted Marv’s birthday and we sang to him so he didn’t have to fine himself.) from John Fischer (wife Gail); Mike Flock (no brace and generosity of others in contributing to package that will go to Skip Charles in Afghanistan); Tom Gates (to thank Konrad, Nelson, Mike and his two boys for help at tree fest and for Fred Johnson); Don Harnum (Toby and the fixed tractor and this time of year); Konrad Kempfe (Jupiter Palm Beach Club flag and marking 20 years of Germany’s reunification); Justin Troup (Ugandan son’s first snow); John Reed (Seals football); Mike Hayes (new members and memory); Donna Schuck (new members and living football); Fred Johnson (winning spirit and on to Hershey); Bill Reibscheid (medical practice open and snow); and Earl Ferster (+15).
