March 25, 2010 – Thirty-one members and guests attended a presentation by Linda Streling, Director of Lewisburg’s Downtown Partnership and Wayne Bromfield, General Counsel for Bucknell University.  The Downtown Partnership was established in 1999 as an initiative to restore cultural and economic vitality to downtown Lewisburg. In the past ten years they have worked diligently to open the lines of communication between the university, downtown merchants and the public by holding open public meetings for 2 hours each month.  Part of the success of this venture has been the ability to get key people involved and to be open and sensitive to each others opinions regarding changes.  Bucknell University has embarked on a very high profile venture of relocating up to 60 staff members into downtown offices as well as the commitment to relocate the university’s bookstore into the downtown streetscape.  These moves will bring more people into the downtown which is a direct reflection of the Downtown Partnership’s mission.

Be in touch with either Pat or Joyce. **Please tell Joyce if you will make a contribution to the Rotary Easter Family.***Mike Damiano reminds us EREY and who has yet to give to the Rotary Foundation this Rotary year.  The Danville rotary is running a bus trip to Wine Country in NY – May 22nd – $55 per person.  Daffodils that were not picked up have been delivered to Grayson View Nursing Home and were greatly appreciated. Distinguished Service Award dinner will be held Thursday, April 15th at PM. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. New members being proposed: Kevin Waple, M&T Bank, Edward Moyer, Susquehanna Bank and Wesley Knapp, Superintendent of Mid West School District.  Anyone who objects to these nominations should contact Joyce Anderson or Jeff Edmunds immediately.

Acting Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: Marv (for Wayne Bromfield), Mary Peterhaensel (new glasses), Charlie McCuen ( golf outing), Michael Damiano (dinner at Café Fresco), Michael Hayes (Wyane Bromfield, Linda Sterling), Art Bowen (Kevin Waple, week of vacation), Konrad Kempfe (trip to Germany), Emily Kissinger (induction picture) and Earl Ferster (just a happy guy).
