September 23, 2010: Thirty-six Rotarians and guests were present to hear Coordinator of Snyder County Emergency Services, Derick Shambach, speak about the 911 center, advanced response equipment, and preparedness in Snyder County. Pa. is divided into 9 terrorism task forces, and this area is an active participant.  Hal Dunkleberger was the host. Guests: Fritz Heinemann, President/CEO of Economicis Pennsylvania (John Fischer’s guest), and Eric DeWald, CEO of the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation (Mike Flock’s guest). New member Scott Oliver was introduced by President John Stokinger.

Announcements:  Joyce Anderson announced that, working with the Snyder Ct. Red Cross, Club members are asked to donate coats as part of the District’s Operation Warm-up program. Gently used coats of all sizes can be donated each of the next three Thursday’s. Nominations Committee is Chair Donna Schuck, Jeff Edmunds and Michael Hayes. They will report to the Club on Nov. 4 and elections will be held Nov. 18 at our Annual Meeting. Sign-up sheet was circulated for Saturday’s Market St. Festival. Help is especially needed to set up and take down at the end of the day. Bake goods to sell are needed.. Thank you John Bickhart for Polio Plus “Purple Pinkie” publicity in the Daily Item.

Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe reported on GOLI (Gift of Life International), started by a Club in Manhasset on Long Island which has saved the life of 10,000 children since its beginning in 2003.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: Happy Birthday Don Summers; and from Mike Flock (trip with Bickhart’s); Hal Dunkleberger (speaker); John Fischer (tournament should clear close to $18,000, 50 years with Northwestern Mutual honor, and Fritz & connections); Diane Alderson (Sunbury Club visit); John Bickhart (trip with Flock’s); Ken Miller (Andre running for President, Philly and Rotary compliment); John Stokinger (big family visit over the weekend); Charlie McCuen (long short sale complete); Mike Damiano (Greenbrier golf and daughter’s good beginnings at SU); Art Bowen (guests); John Thompson (VHS Conference); and Earl Ferster (anticipating good help on Sat and +15).
