Oct. 14, 2010: Twenty-six Rotarians and guests (visiting Rotarian Tim Duke and new Manager of the
SVCC, Bob Snyder) were present as President John Stokinger presented interesting information about the Club found on the Rotary International Website. Dr. Wesley Knapp was unexpectedly called out of town and his classification talk will need to be rescheduled. President John introduced new member Scott Oliver. A brief board meeting followed.

 

Announcements: Nominations Committee (Chair Donna Schuck and members Mike Hayes and Jeff Edmunds) will report a slate on Nov. 4, with elections held Nov. 18 at our Annual Meeting.*Those who signed up to help at the Halloween Parade on October 19 should meet Donna Schuck at the Sunoco Station on Market St. at 7:30 p.m. to distribute candy to the parade participants.**Don Summers, Jr. announced that Dictionary distribution will occur this next week at the Intermediate School. Be in touch with Don asap if you wish to participate.***Tom Gates distributed information about the SAYF.****Foundation Dinner 11/18, see John Stokinger for information, RI New Orleans deadlines for registration.

*****Leaf raking at Rotary Field is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 20 per Ken Miller.

 

Good News from Rotary: Konrad Kempfe read the thank you letter received from Shelter Box for our donation and described the impact this 10 year old program has had in responding to disasters in 70 different countries.

 

Sergeant at arms:  Konrad Kempfe collected fines from:  Mike Flock (seeing Eagle over bridge); John Stokinger (grandkids week in the Shenandoah Valley); Nelson Bailey (Chilean miners rescued); John Thompson (ham club success and WGAL interview); Ken Miller (Colorado grandkids week); Tom Gates (his guest and wishing him success); John Fischer (SAYF Board meeting and Tom’s leadership); Donna Long (Yankees, rescue of miners, coming surgeries); Hal Shriver (good health) Don Summers (construction completed); Tim Duke (singing); and himself (rescue of miners, PA made drill, trip to Germany).
