Oct. 28, 2010:  Twenty-nine Rotarians and guests were present for a very interesting presentation on potato farming and Keystone Potato Products. LLC by David Masser of Sterman and Masser, Inc. He is the 8th generation of his family who is involved with potato farming. The program was hosted by Sean Felty. Keystone Potato Products produces value added potato products by dehydrating usable chip potatoes and peels at the only dehydrating facility east of the Miss.  Located in Pennsylvania and owned by potato growers, the plant uses methane gas from a nearby landfill and treated water from a mine pool to create the steam required to run the plant. Anyone interested in additional information can find that on the web at www.masserspuds.com or www.keystone potato.com. Superintendent Chad Cohrs introduced the Sept. Young American, Mary Herman, who in turn introduced her Spanish teacher, Mrs. Joan Bastian. Mary attended Rotary previously to present on the Free Enterprise Week program and she intends to pursue the study of Spanish and education in college. He then introduced the Oct. Young American, Bret Amerman. Bret plans to study engineering at Penn State and introduced Mrs. Hepner, his Chemistry teacher. Mrs. Hepner, Bret’s cousin, points out that Bret will graduated having completed 8 AP courses. Jeff Edmunds introduced his guests, Scott Bordner of Mid Penn Insurance, and Scott’s daughter Joclyn who is doing a school project about service clubs. Also present was visiting Rotarian Tim Duke.
