Nov. 4, 2010: Thirty-four Rotarians and guests were present for Club Assembly. Guests of Tom Gates who are receiving a $1000 from SAYF for support of high school Lacrosse: Tim Laubsher, Don Harnum and Kim Fina. The Nominations Committee (Donna Schuck, Mike Hayes, Jeff Edmunds) announced the slate for 2011-12 Selinsgrove Rotary Club Officers and Directors: Donna Schuck, President; Pat Pinkowski, President-Elect; Wesley Knapp, Vice President; Ken Wagner, Treasurer; Hal Dunkleberger, Secretary; John Stokinger, Past President; Avenues of Service Directors: Club Service – Joyce Anderson, Community Service – John Bickhart, Vocational Service – Justin Troup, International Service – Konrad Kempfe. Nominated to terms on Selinsgrove Rec., Inc.: Chad Cohrs and Ken Miller. Marv Rudnitsky has accepted another term as Sergeant at arms. Elections will be held at the Annual Meeting, November 18. Avenue of Service reports: A new member orientation sub-committee under Membership will be chaired by John Fischer; request for information from Mike Damiano regarding where an individual member stands as they work toward a Paul Harris Fellow and a sapphire. For International Service, Konrad Kempfe reported speaker in Dec. on water project, Club has donated to Shelter Box, provided support for mission trips by two members, plans to ask international students to come and speak and is in process with a potential Rotary Exchange applicant. Hal Schriver reported for Vocational Service that additional business tours were discussed, Rural Urban Night will be Jan. 27 (not 20), and they plan to identify a speaker on regional impact of Marcellas Shale. John Bickhart reported for Community Service and continuation of projects. More members are urged to participate has hosts for “Beds for a Cause” program. Discussion occurred regarding coach’s night and possibility of doing that at a lunch time meeting. 2009-10 Club Calendars are available from John Stokinger.
Announcements: Foundation Dinner 11/18, see John Stokinger for information.*Leaf raking at Rotary Field is scheduled for Nov. 20, 8 a.m. to noon with Midget football coaches and players will assist Rotarians. Bring power tools if you have them.
Good News from Rotary: Konrad Kempfe reported on two former ambassadorial scholars work with AIDS orphans in Africa.
Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines from: Donna Schuck (happy birthday to both she and her husband); himself (for John Fischer’s honor and Tom Gates service as Pres. Of SAYF); Diane Alderson (John); Pat Pinkowski (grandsons success with Midget Football all stars); Tom Gates (guests); Wesley Knapp (Chad Cohrs and Selinsgrove field hockey); Don Harnum (happy to be here and election depression); Mike Piecuch (trick or treat costumes); John Fischer ($5 for all the Rotarians who missed last Th. In order to attend Econ.PA event); and Earl Ferster (John and +15).
