John Stokinger presided, with Chad Cohrs introducing Mr. Haine. Started in 1967 as SUN Voc-Tech, the Institute, working with five school districts (Midd-West, Selinsgrove, Shikillemy, Lewisburg, and Mifflinberg) in three counties, is now a 501(c)3 Foundation. Equipment is paid for with grants and gifts. The school has 17 approved programs in the building trades, communications, health services, Technical, and Transportation. Students typically attend in their senior year for a one year program. In addition there are evening programs for adult learners. We were introduced to members of the staff who assisted with the tours. SUN Area Technology Institute motto says it all: Training today’s students for tomorrow’s jobs.
