Twenty-one Rotarians were present for Veterans Recognition Day and heard Thomas
Reimonsnyder, a Korean War Veteran and Educator, speak about patriotism and flag
etiquette. For example, the American flag is either first in a display, or, if
not first, is flown higher than other flags. The order of Service Flats, with
the American flag first, is Army, Marine, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, MIA/POW.
Quite passionate about patriotism, Mr. Reimonsnyder, a Marine, served in a unit
which had an 88% casualty rate, and he is pictured on the mural wall of the
Korean War memorial in Washington. Members are reminded that the Selinsgrove
Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day at Sharon
Lutheran Church porch and parking lot. A Board of Director’s meeting followed.
At a future club meeting the Board will present a motion concerning 2011-12
Officers. Due to personal circumstances, Donna Schuck will be President-Elect
for a second year, and Pat Pinkowski will step up to President. The Club
continues to be in need of a Program Director for the next Rotary year. Please
see Joyce Anderson for additional information.
