July 28, 2011: Twenty-three Rotarians and guests were present for a presentation by Mike
Damiano about the Rotary International Foundation and the importance of Every
Rotarian Every Year (in any amount) donations.Founded in 1917, the goals of the foundation continue to be fighting
hunger, reducing child mortality, pursuing peace and conflict resolution,
providing basic education and literacy, and Polio Plus. All of the grants and
programs sponsored by the Foundation fit into those five themes. Mike’s guest,
Pastor Immer Ramirez from Guatemala, spoke from first-hand experience about
what it means to have such financial resources provided. Pastor Ramirez now
lives in Milton and will be providing outreach ministries to the Spanish
speaking population. Shirley Homan, Global Ministries Director for her church,
was also present. The mission group will be leaving Monday for another week
long mission in Guatemala with teams providing medical care, house
construction, and teaching English. Wesley Knapp presided.

is the date for the SACF/Rotary Golf Tournament, more information available
from John Fischer. Proceeds this year will be split between the SACF and the
Library Capital Campaign.*Movie Night is tonight 7/28 – Alvin and the
Chipmunks. **Hotdog night at the Gazebo went well despite Chair’s absence per
Konrad Kempfe.
Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe reported on the Melbourne, Australia Club
and its work fixing up and furnishing apartments for the homeless working with
Home Ground Services. Each Club member worked a minimum of 35 hours on this
project.
Acting Sergeant at arms: Konrad Kempfe collected fines as follows from Mike
Flock (37th anniversary); John Bickhart (Hotdog night going well
while he was stuck in the airport on the way back from Colorado); Art Bowen (NJ
week with family); John Stokinger (6 & 7 year old grandkids on a camping
trip); Mary Peterhaensel (back and dog recovering); Charlie McCuen (daughter’s
Montreal wedding, concert and play); Toby Skinner (Billy working for Americorp
in Washington state); Wesley Knapp (guests, 48th Anniversasry); Mike
Damiano (guests) and Hal Dunkleberger (+15).
