September 15, 2011: Twenty-six Rotarians and guests (Jay’s guests from
Susquehanna: Angela Burrows, VP of Communications, and Paul Smith, Technology
Event Support) gathered for a presentation by Susquehanna University President Jay
Lemons entitled Susquehanna Today. It was good to be together in good
fellowship after the rain and flooding caused the cancellation of last week’s
meeting and Director’s meeting. A Director’s meeting followed. Susquehanna is
located in Selinsgrove because of the shared faith and confidence of Benjamin
Kurtz and townspersons and is built on the former App Family Farm. SU
enrollment in 1985 was 1382, and is now 2236. Ninety-four percent of the
faculty members have doctorates. Endowment has grown from 6.7 million in 1985
to 87.5 million in 2010. A good question and answer period followed Jay’s
presentation concerning Pine Meadows, costs of college, and this year’s theme.

Fischer announced that the Golf Tournament is Monday, 9/19 and reviewed
volunteer assignments. Proceeds this year will be shared, with $5000 going to
the Library Capital Campaign.*SAVE THE DATE: New Member Orientation will be
