September 22, 2011: Thirty-three Rotarians and guests (Art Bowen’s guest
and proposed new member, Melissa Laniewski and Joyce Anderson’s guest, Paul
Smith. were present as Rotarian Bruce Marion presented his classification talk.
An employee of Sunbury Hospital for the past 8 years, Bruce has served as the
Director of Marketing since last July. He presented information about the
hospital and its gains in facilities and services during the last several
years. Born and raised in Hazelton, Bruce is married with two adopted boys who
are now high school age.

 

Announcements: John
Fischer reported on the unaudited results of last Monday’s Golf Tournament.
Tournament raised $21,315, in addition to Don Harnum’s hole in one contest
which raised $345 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Friends of the Library
putting contest which raised $270. Expenses were $4450, with $5000 donated that
day to the campaign for the Snyder Ct. Selinsgrove Library and $2000 committed
to the Red Cross for flood relief efforts. This means approximately $9250 will
be placed in the Community Foundation for both scholarships and development of
the community fund. Many thanks are given to John, his committee and all of the
tournament sponsors.*SAVE THE DATE: New Member Orientation will be held at the
home of Karen and Art Bowen, 20 Meadowbrook Drive, on Sept. 26, 2011 at 7 p.m. **Market
St. Festival is Saturday and the Club will have a stand in front of the Miller
Agency and will sell popcorn, coffee and donuts, and conduct Purple Pinking
Polio Plus fund raising. Additional sign ups to work and to assist with set up
and tear down will be appreciated per John Bickhart.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected fines as follows: Happy Birthday Don Summers
and from John Stokinger (camping in MD and his “Sox”); Pat Pinkowski
(granddaughter turned 16); Ken Miller (Penn State field hockey and his
granddaughter scoring a goal); Joyce Anderson (guest, speaker, and grandson
becoming a scout); Hal Dunkelberger (31 Rotarians present); Bob Soper (visit to
Rhoades vacation home without Jerry); Mike Piecuch (Sr. Center presentation);
Mike Damiano (John Fischer and what did John S see?); John Fischer (helpers,
sponsors and especially Bill Clark); Mike Flock (John F and all who helped with
the Golf Tournament); Art Bowen (guest and grandson at 8 months, losing weight
and keeping it off); and Earl Ferster (plus plus 15).

 

Proposed New Member: Melissa
Laniewski, Bowen Agency, and daughter of Norm Lauer, in the classification of
Real Estate. Art Bowen is the sponsor. Any objections should be reported to
President Pat Pinkowski within 7 days of this notice.
