Anderson
Next Meeting: Oct. 13, 2011– Gary Swan, Farm Bureau
Director of Government Affairs, is the speaker, Ken Miller is the host. 11:45 a.m., SVCC.
October 6, 2011: Twenty-five Rotarians and guests (Raven Rudnitsky, guest host and
Peggy Reichenbach, ED of Big Brothers/Big Sisters) were present as Raven
introduced Judy Jones, Director of Northumberland County CASA (Court Appointed
Special Advocate) who spoke on the topic “Giving Children a Voice.” Judy came
here with 10 years experience as the CASA Director in Lycoming County, where
they experience a 99% success rate. This was an inspiring presentation as it
called attention to the needs of abused and neglected children who enter the
juvenile system. Judge Saylor brought CASA to Northumberland three years ago in
order to deal with the high repeat occurrence rates. CASA volunteers speak up
for the best interest of the child in court and provide continuity for the
child no matter where they are living. It is hoped that this nationwide program
will be brought to both Snyder and Union Counties. President Pat Pinkowski
called on Dottie Anderson and sponsor Art Bowen to install new member Melissa
Laniewski.
Announcements: Pat Pinkowski circulated a sign- up sheet for
helping at the Halloween Parade on 10/18. Toby Skinner and Art Bowen are
