November 17, 2011: Twenty-four Rotarians and guests were present for the
Annual Meeting and Election of 2012-13 Officers and Directors. Donna Schuck
reported on behalf of the nominating committee (herself, Wes Knapp and John
Stokinger). Given no additional nominations from the floor, the slate was
unanimously adopted. The results are as follows: President: Donna Schuck; Past President: Pat Pinkowski; President
Elect: Wesley Knapp; Vice President: Chad Cohrs; Treasurer: Ken Wagner; Secretary:
Hal Dunkelberger. Avenue of Service Directors: Community Service – John
Bickhart; International Service – Konrad Kempfe; Club Service – Art Bowen;
Vocational Service – Toby Skinner.
Jennifer Page, substituted
for Rosa Weir, Snyder County Director of Children and Youth Services. Jennifer
is a former caseworker and is now responsible for Family Support Services. In
2010, the agency received reports about neglect, abuse, etc. on 794 children
(389 families). Investigation led to continued work with 179 children (86
families), with 27 children being placed in foster care. Jennifer mentioned
special events planned and executed by the agency, such as Back to School,
Holiday distribution, and the Special Need Fund.This was an informative session and included materials
being circulated about the services of the agency and the Family Group
Conferencing program.
Announcements: The
Book selected for Club’s Tree Fest tree is Mouse Soup by Arnold Lobel.
Tree Fest posters and information were circulated. Rotary will decorate its
tree following the 12/1 meeting.*Don Summers announced that Dictionary
Distribution will occur 11/21 at 10:25 a.m. at the Intermediate School. Michael
Damiano, Toby Skinner, Konrad Kempfe plan to help. Others are more than
welcome.**Ken Miller announced need for Rotarians to rake leaves at Rotary
Field prior to this coming Tuesday. ***No meeting will be held 12/29. Club will
meet at BJ’s in Jan., Feb. and March.****Hal Schriver urged people to think
about helping with Bell Ringing and Joyce Anderson announced that we will have
a Christmas Family and donations toward purchase of gifts and a tree are
needed.
Sergeant at arms: President Pat collected
fines as follows: Happy Birthday Art Bowen and from Sheri Hoffman (back and
daughter and cheerleading); Toby Skinner ($100 beds for a cause for a repeat
guest); Wesley Knapp (name in paper); John Fischer (no name in paper); Donna
Shuck (success for Disaster Relief Fund); Charlie McCuen (speaker); Hal
Schriver (pic in paper); Bill Clark (VA Day); and Earl Ferster (back and +15).
