January 5, 2011: Twenty-seven
Rotarians and guests were present for this program presented by Derek Shambach,
Snyder County Emergency Management Coordinator. Ken Miller was the host. Mr.
Shambach spoke about the history and progress of the 911 center, with emphasis
on the upgrades that have occurred as result of legislation passed following
the 9/11 attack. Anyone interested in a tour of the center should call him. The
center has 9 fulltime and 6 part time employees in addition to the Director and
is funded by the surcharge all of us pay on our cell phone bills.

 

Announcements: Mimi Rice
continues to look for hosts for 3 male students from Japan who will be here
1/31 to 3/21. A stipend is provided. Ask Pat Pinkowski for additional
information or contact Mimi directly.*Club will meet at BJ’s all of Jan., Feb.,
and March. A salad or other entre will be available at each meeting.**4/11 is the
Distinguished Service Award dinner, nominees, individuals or groups, should be
given to Joyce Anderson.

 

Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe spoke about a Rotarian who has 40 years
of perfect attendance, visiting 202 Clubs around the world.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitksy collected fines
from himself (for Jarrod Roush); Mike Flock – his guest and family Christmas;
Joyce Anderson (family Christmas and attending swearing in of Mike Piecuch as
DA and Jack Reed as District Justice); Sheri Hoffman (Globetrotters game with
children); John Fischer (family Christmas); Don Harnum (missed meeting, Florida
trip, fence at Eastern Snyder Park);Chad Cohrs (kids home with good college
grades); Nelson Bailey (Konrad’s help with in-law entertaining); Wes Knapp
(seeing all of his children); Pat Pinkowski (family Christmas); John Reed
(grandkids and new job with good help); Jeff Edmunds (“senior moment” shared with
John Bickhart); John Bickhart (“senior moment” shared with Wes Knapp and Jeff
Edmunds);Bob Soper (surviving family Christmas); Bill Clark (Calif. Christmas);
Mary Peterhaensel (after Christmas visit with grandkids); and Earl Ferster (+++
15, and no badge).

19 – Judge Harold Woelfel, Jr., Senior Judge, Court of Common Pleas, 17th
Judicial District will speak on the successes and failures of the treatment

26 – Urban/Rural Night, 6:15 p.m., Jerry Rhoads is the host, Christ Community
Church. Signup sheet will be circulated. Partners, guests are welcome.
