Next Meeting: January 26, 2011–Urban/Rural Night –

Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Road. Wesley Knapp will preside.

January 19, 2011: Twenty-eight Rotarians
and guests were present for Judge Harold Woelfel’s presentation on the
successes and failures of the treatment courts. Mike Flock was the host. Judge
Woelfel is the Senior Judge for the 17th Judicial District’s Court
of Common Pleas. The drug court (started 3 ½ years ago) and the DUI court (2
years old) in Snyder and Union Counties experiences a 65% success rate compared
to a 50% rate nationally. Costing between $3500-5000 per person, this is
considerably less expensive then incarceration and extended costs related to
addicted persons. This is a program worthy of continued support by the public.
Dr. John Thompson was present and may be rejoining the Selinsgrove Club.
