February 9, 2011: Twenty-nine Rotarians and guests were in attendance
for a presentation by John K. Reichard, Director of Finance, SEDA-Council of
Governments. Kevin Waple was the host. Wes Knapp presided. SEDA-COG covers 11
counties in central PA., and has close to 100 employees to provide a wide
variety of services to local government. Mr. Reichard spoke about his area of
providing loans and assistance to small business within the coverage area and
throughout the state. In partnership with local banks, assistance is provided
for business to upgrade facilities and expand markets. This was an interesting
program, one which raised many questions and comments from members. Bob Soper
spoke about the District Conference (4/27-29) and the goal of increasing
attendance from our Club. Early bird registration closes 3/15. The conference
will be held in Grantville, located between Harrisburg and Hershey, and will be
the last for us as District 7370. Wes introduced new member David Lawer. John
Stokinger introduced Jan Farrity, a Sunbury Rotarian.

Announcements: 4/11
is the Distinguished Service Award dinner. *If you want to access the
membership directory on the website, and need to set a password, get in touch
with Michael Hayes. You do not need a password to go on to any other section of
the website.**Polio Plus bike ride is scheduled for 6/23, members are urged to
participate if possible.***Art Bowen gave Bill Clark his “I got mine” sticker
for his badge and challenged members to remember each member is urged to
sponsor a new member.

Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe reported on the work of two
districts (England1200 and Indonesia
3400) in partnership to establish a mobile medical clinic to aid homeless
children, with the assistance of a Grant from Rotary International. To date the
clinic has assisted over 3000 children.

story involving new member Jared and Keri Albright). Future Programs: Feb. 23- Representative Fred Keller will be the speaker. Bill Clark is
the host, 11:45 a.m., BJ’s. Mar. 1 – Dr. Donald Housley will speak on his
recently completed book, The History of Geisinger. Nelson Bailey is the
host. 11:45 a.m., BJ’s.
Mar. 8 – TBA – Mike Piecuch is the host, 11:45
a.m., BJ’s. Board Meeting follows regular meeting. Mar. 15 – Loreen Comstock
will speak about Nurse/Family Partnership. Donna Shuck is the host, 11:45 a.m.,
BJ’s Birthdays: Feb. 11 – Michael Hayes. Mar. 26 – William
Clark; 31 – Ken Miller.
