February 16, 2011: Twenty-eight Rotarians and guests (Bob Snyder,
Manager, SVCC – Tom Gates guest) were in attendance for a presentation by Dr. John
Turner about Breast Health advances in screening and diagnosis, management of
high risk patients, and advances in treatment. The Director of the Evangelical Hospital
Center for Breast Health, Dr. Turner presented information on medical studies
and proposed state legislation requiring whole breast ultrasound on patients
found to have dense breasts. Michael Hayes was the host. Bob Soper spoke about
the District Conference (4/27-29) and the goal of increasing attendance from
our Club. Early bird registration closes 3/15. The conference will be held in
Grantville, located between Harrisburg and Hershey, and will be the last for us
as District 7370. President Pat Pinkowski (we’re happy to have her back)
introduced new members David Lawer and Jared Roush.

is the Distinguished Service Award dinner, 6 p.m., SVCC. *Next week will be the
last week to place order for American Cancer Society Daffodil Days. Earl
Ferster is coordinating.**Polio Plus bike ride is scheduled for 6/23, members
are urged to participate if possible. Pat has registration sheets. If not
riding, one can be a virtual rider for a donation of $25.***John Stokinger
reported on first fund raising committee meeting – a second will be scheduled
with sufficient time to allow more members to attend.
Good News of
Rotary: Konrad Kempfe reported on
the work of a Wisconsin Club with a Club in Nairobi to install solar powered
wells in a village for AIDS orphans.

Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows: Happy BD to Michael Hayes, from
himself (rain, not snow); Art Bowen (paid Michael’s bd fine, which made Mike
happy, and for his 41st wedding anniversary); John Fischer (Mike’s
happy fine); Tom Gates (guest and twins 5th birthday); Mary
Peterhaensel (1/3 time at Trinity in Sunbury); Sheri Hoffman (Florida and kids
first flight), Nelson Bailey (remembered wife’s bd); Michael Hayes (speaker);
Toby Skinner (Pat back and Michael’s bd); Bob Soper (1000 points scored at Del
Val by granddaughter); John Bickhart (think of the Flock’s); Mike Damiano
(mission trip and support from the Club) and Earl Ferster (happy about way
fines come in).

Joseph Gallagher, MD, from Central Penn Gastroentology, will be the speaker.
