Next Meeting: March 15, 2012 – Loreen Comstock,
Director, will speak about the County Nurse/Family Partnership. Donna Shuck is
the host. BJ’s, 11:45 a.m.
March 8, 2012: Twenty-seven Rotarians were in
attendance as Malcolm Derk and Joe Kantz, Majority Commissioners, spoke about
their work on behalf of Snyder County residents. Peggy Chamberlain Roup,
Minority Commissioner, was unable to attend because of a death in her family.
Mike Piecuch was the host. Malcolm spoke about his work as Chair of the Prison
Board and with human resources as it relates to the county’s 230 employees. Joe
spoke about his work as chair of the Commissioners, with building maintenance
issues and as Treasurer for the state wide CC’s association, especially with
legislative issues that have impact on the County. Joe complimented Peggy’s
work in making budgeting recommendations that have resulted in substantial
savings in electric costs. Cash flow is always an issue in that the county is
dependent on state reimbursements for things such as Children and Youth, and
the delay in receipt of those reimbursements. It is clear that residents are
benefiting from the work of our commissioners. A Rotary Board Meeting followed.
