March 15, 2012: Twenty-six Rotarians were in
attendance as Loreen Comstock, MSN, RN, CS, Administrator for the Nurse-Family
Partnership, spoke about the program and its purposes: to improve pregnancy
outcomes by helping women engage in good health practice, to improve child
health and development by helping parents provide responsible and competent
care; and to improve economic self-sufficiency of the family by helping parents
develop a vision for their own future, plan future pregnancies, continue their
education and find work. Sponsored through Columbia Montour Home Health, with
support from the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund, Central Susquehanna
Community Foundation, this is a program found in 34 states and 67 PA Counties. Donna Shuck served as host.
Announcements: Polio Plus Bike Ride is scheduled for
6/23, members are urged to participate if possible. Pat has registration sheet
and one will be e-mailed to members. If not riding, one can be a virtual rider
for a donation of $25.*Savor Selinsgrove will occur in the afternoon on 6/23 –
Rotarians working on this event are Michael Hayes, Donna Shuck, and John
Stokinger. Proceeds are used to help in our Polio Plus efforts. **Bob Soper
spoke about the District Conference 4/27-29.
Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe shared information about Rotary World
Peace Fellow Allison Kwesell at the International Christian University in
Tokyo, Japan. Te project creates photo albums for those who lost everything in
the 2011 tsunami. A photo-journalist, she is helping victims develop new albums
to help “replace” what was lost.

conveyed to President Pat within 7 days of this notice.
