March 29, 2012: 25 Rotarians and guests (Joyce
Anderson’s guest was new member Brian Neitz) heard this presentation by artist Joanne
Landis. Toby Skinner was the host. Joanne, featured in a recent Susquehanna
Life issue, began her career in NYC as a fashion illustrator. She studied at
Parsons School of Design, and taught for several years before moving to
Troxelville about 20 years ago. She commuted into NY to continue teaching for
about 10 years before staying here full time. Joanne sees herself as a
narrative painter, seeking to tell a story with her art. In addition she writes
and is about to learn if she is 1st or 2nd in a short
fiction writing contest at York College later today. She does 20 foot murals on canvas – two, one
from Ireland and the other from Germany, will be on display at Penn State later
this year. She has a studio in her barn as well as one in the former Pajama Factory
in Williamsport. While some of her work is done on commission, @99% is her own
work. She says she may do 20 pieces in order to sell one. Pieces of her work
can be seen at Peppers in town.

Brief Board Meeting
followed, at which Bill Reibschied’s resignation was accepted with regret.
