Aviation’s Jim Taylor, Manager of Penn Valley Airport and Pilot Instructor Dave
Hall, spoke about improvements at the airport that have been accomplished since
Heritage took over management in 2008. Long term deficit has been reduced from
$600,000 to $57,000; repairs have been made to the hangers and fuel station, the
terminal was completely redone, and a Flight School has been started that now
has 40 students in various stages of instruction. The Air Show drew 10,000
visitors its first year, and 25,000 this past summer. Ritz-Craft, the parent
company of Heritage Aviation, is one of many businesses that now have aircraft
at the airport. In addition to providing about 51 jobs, the airport contributed
approximately 64 million to the local economy in 2011. The CAP, Ham Radio
Society, and others hold their meetings at the airport. John Thompson was the
host. Returning member John Thompson and new member Brian Neitz were installed
by Dottie Anderson, with assistance from there sponsor, Joyce Anderson.
