April 12, 2012: Twenty-four Rotarians were present as Dave Paulson, Basketball Coach
at Bucknell, spoke about his coaching philosophy and the way in which he works
with his players. Tom Gates was the host. Coach Paulson is an energetic and
enthusiastic speaker, the same traits he exhibits as a coach. He sees himself
as an educator, and teaching team building is his first priority. Today’s
culture is into instant gratification, and frequently self-absorbed, making it
more challenging to build a team. Passion, talking, toughness, and focus are
values he seeks to develop in his players – all of which will serve them well
in their futures beyond college. President Pat introduced new member Brian
Neitz to those who have not yet met him. Joyce Anderson is looking for someone
willing to pitch hit for Don Harnum as MC for 6/19 if Don’s health prevents him
from fulfilling that role.
Announcements: Polio Plus Bike Ride is scheduled for
6/23, members are urged to participate if possible. Pat has registration sheet
and one was e-mailed to members. If not riding, one can be a virtual rider for
a donation of $25.*Savor Selinsgrove will occur in the afternoon on 6/23 –
Rotarians working on this event are Michael Hayes, Donna Shuck, Melissa
Laniewski, and John Stokinger. Proceeds are used to help in our Polio Plus
efforts. **More Rotarians are asked to step up to assist with Movie Nights this
summer. Held on the 1st and 3rd Thurs. of June, July and
Aug., at dusk, the equipment for this program was purchased through a Rotary
