May 24, 2012: Twenty-nine Rotarians were present as Stacy Butler spoke about her work
with State Farm Insurance. She has her own agency, with 6 employees who
specialize in various aspects of State Farm offerings. Stacy is especially
involved in providing assistance to small business in determining employee
benefit programs, especially 401 K plans. The wide range of products and
services provided by State Farm include a bank, mutual funds, credit card in
addition to the products they are most known for, auto and life insurance.
Stacy is on the board of Economics PA and the Chamber of Commerce. She is
currently very involved in developing a driver education program funded by a
grant from State Farm and involving both Economics PA and the Chamber. It is
being designed to provide driver education for young people from low and
moderate income families. Sheri Hoffman was the host for this program.

 

Announcements: Polio Plus Bike Ride is scheduled for
6/23, members are urged to participate. Pat will circulate a signup sheet next
week to identify folks who can be of assistance at Rotary Field on the morning
of the bike ride.*Savor Selinsgrove will occur in the afternoon on 6/23 –
Rotarians working on this event are Michael Hayes, Donna Shuck, Melissa
Laniewski, and John Stokinger. All members are urged to sell two tickets to the
event. Proceeds are used to help in our
Polio Plus efforts. **June 9 is the Rotary Chicken Barbeque – Bob Fogle and
Earl Ferster distributed tickets and a signup sheet for workers. All members
are expected to sell 10 tickets and to sign up to help at the event. There will
be little League games occurring at the field as usual

House , June 2 at Ashburn’s Animals.****New DG Jim Eberly’s installation is
June 30 at Tofftrees Resort. Cost is $30 per person for brunch beginning at 11

Good News of Rotary International: Konrad Kempfe shared information about a joint project
between the Newtown, PA Club and a Sri Lanka Club in Colombo Fort which
provided a health camp on a remote island in Sri Lanka that provides care for
mothers to be and infants and children. With five volunteer doctors, the camp
provided care to 500 people in the first morning it was in operation.

(with thanks to Konrad for doing Sergeant at arms duties in Marv’s absence);
John Fischer (golf committee meeting, Nag’s Head and Long beach Island trips);
John Stokinger (enjoy Budapest trip); Wes Knapp (Chad and Selingrove High
national rating); Dave Lawer (WVIA and Mike Flock, and Rotarians who cleared
branches); Mike Piecuch (4 year olds birthday and leaving early); Sheri Hoffman
(speaker, house painted, and back); Toby Skinner (Connie Harnum Award given at
Middleburg); Nelson Bailey (Selinsgrove High rating); Jerry Rhoades (back from
the cape); John Reed (grandson completing exams); Pat Pinkowski (high standards
of SASD); and Earl Ferster (speaker and +15).
