July 12, 2012: Twenty-three Rotarians were present for Melissa Laniewski’s classification
talk. Melissa, the mother of three grown daughters, is a Realtor with Bowen
Realty.After high school she attended
Central Penn College where she received training as a paralegal. She was a full
time mother for several years, working a variety of jobs on a part time
basis.As it came time to financing
three college educations, Melissa obtained her Real Estate license and, with
mentoring from Art and Bill Bowen and Karl Rohrbach, she became a successful
realtor.She especially enjoys working
with first time home buyers. She remains active with the Valley Players (her
parents were founding members) and has a role in their summer production.
Norman Lauer, her father, was a long time Rotarian and a past president.Portions of RI President Tanaka’s speech will
be shown at another meeting.
Announcements: Remember Movie Night on Rotary Field occurs the 2nd
and 4th Thursdays from June through August at dusk on Rotary field.*
Earl Ferster will need assistance on 7/24 at 7 at the Gazebo for Hot Dog Night
sponsored by Rotary. **President Donna indicates that Board Meeting will be
held on the third Thursday of every month following regular meeting except as
noted below (July 19 and Aug. 9). ***John Fischer notes that the 20th
annual Golf Tournament will occur 9/10 and help will be needed for this
event.****Hal Dunkelberger has Rotary Hats for sale.*****Bob Soper reported
that Ann Schriver has given him information related to Hal’s time as President
of the Club (86-87) and two of the fund raiser puzzles that were done during
that time. Bob will do a folder for the Club Archives about Hal’s
presidency.******Help is needed this Sunday at Antiques on the Avenue – both
with early set up at 7 a.m. and at the hotdog stand.While this is a project of the Chamber,
Rotarians are invited to assist.
Good News from Rotary: Konrad Kempfe spoke about a breast cancer
awareness program, a Health, Hunger and Humanity grant project, between Turkey
District 2440 and Tennessee District 6780.
Sergeant at arms: Konrad Kempfe collected happy fines from Dottie Anderson (reaching fund
raising goal of $40,000 for Summer SEALS thanks to Geisinger Foundation Grant);
John Stokinger (visit with grandchildren); Wes Knapp (back, wife recovering,
Donna presiding); John Fischer (Don Harnum back); Pat Pinkowski (back); Nelson
Bailey (talk with mother in law and son’s visit); Donna Schuck (SUN Home Health
successful tournament); Chad Cohrs (back and in absentia induction); Don Harnum
(back); Charlie McCuen (next trip and wife’s picture); Bob Soper (10 days at
cabin); Brian Neitz (pic in paper); and Earl Ferster (++15 and Donna’s new
term).

Aug. 2 – The Gelnett Trust and its uses, Dottie Anderson,

Jim Eberly’s visit with our Club. SVCC, 11:45 a.m. Board Meeting with the DG precedes the regular meeting.All Board Members are asked to attend this

host this Club Assembly on Club Service/Membership. SVCC; 11:45 a.m.
