July 26, 2012: Thirty plus Rotarians and guests were present as the club
was introduced to outgoing Rotary Exchange student Morgan Adams. Morgan’s
parents, Ryan and Becky Beddal, and young brother, Jake, were also present.
Morgan, who leave 8/20 and returns in time for graduation here, will spend the
academic year living and studying in Brazil, staying with four host families
and attending a private school in Juazeiro do Norte. In high school here Morgan
is Secretary of the Student Council, works at Giant Foods (this is her last
week), and has accumulated over 200 volunteer hours at Evangelical
Hospital.Long term, Morgan plans to
attend college, hopefully on an ROTC scholarship for the Air Force.We will be receiving monthly reports from
Morgan about her experiences in Brazil.

Announcements: Remember Movie Night on Rotary Field occurs the 2nd
and 4th Thursdays from June through August at dusk, (weather permitting)
on Rotary field.*Thanks to Earl Ferster, Bob Fogle and ten additional Rotarianss
who provided assistance on 7/24 Gazebo Hot Dog Night sponsored by Rotary. **2012-13
calendars are available for all members***John Fischer notes that the 20th
annual Golf Tournament will occur 9/10 and golfers and helpers will be needed for
this event. Rotarians who attend only the dinner that evening may do so at a
cost of $20.****Savor Selinsgrove proceeds of $499 toward our Polio Plus goal
were presented to President Donna, in addition to a $100 donation from a couple
for Polio Plus.

Good News from RI: Konrad
reported on a program in Nigeria where a Rotary group called Rotarian Action
Group for Population Growth and Sustainable Development has reduced maternal
mortality in Northern Nigeria by 60%. Working with a club from Germany, the
program has also repaired 1500 fistulas in Nigerian women.

and his grandchildren); and Toby Skinner (pic in paper); himself (grandparent
camp); Art Bowen (Sheri Hoffman accepting Membership Comm. Chairmanship, beach
with grandkids for a week, coming weekend Bowen Family Reunion, Morgan and
family); Joyce Anderson (young visitors); Mike Flock (anniversary); John
Fischer (Morgan going to Brazil, golf committee, fishing with Jim Charles and
Andrew Hayes); Dave Lawer (hotdogs and going away with grandkids); Mary
Peterhaensel (Scandinavian Festival); Pat Pinkowski (family reunion); Mike
Piecuch (back, Summer SEAKS, and his guest); John Reed (back, TX trip and heat
wave); Bob Fogle (help with hotdog night); Konrad Kempfe (Florida and visit
with son); and Earl Ferster ( ++15 and 12 who helped out at Gazebo night.
