Aug. 9, 2012: Twenty-five
Rotarians were present as District Governor Jim
Eberly (State College Club) paid his formal visit to the Club, along with
Assistant Governor Sherri Shebelsky of the Shamokin Club. A meeting with the DG
and the Club Board preceded the regular meeting. New district 7630 is composed
of 77 clubs (plus one provisional club) within 21 Pa. counties, 3 Md. Counties
and 8 counties in West Va., for a total of approximately 2800 Rotarians. The
District Conference is 4/26-28 2013 in Gettysburg. The DG’s goals include
encouraging every club to donate a least one Shelter Box, engage in the New Generations
Avenue of Service (student exchange, Roteract, Interact, RYLA, 4 way test
speech contest, and continue to support Polio Plus (only 100 cases report in
the world this year and only in three countries). This meeting will stimulate
additional conversations within the Club.

Announcements: Remember Movie Night on Rotary Field occurs the 2nd
and 4th Thursdays from June through August at dusk, (weather
permitting) on Rotary field.*2012-13 calendars are available for all members**Pat
Pinkowski needs about 10 Rotarians to help at the Football booster night on
Rotary Field – we will be making and selling popcorn at the Aug. 18 event (and
a signup sheet was circulated.***Jerry Rhoads son Devin indicates his father has
appreciated the flowers, cards, visits from Rotarians.****Golfers still needed
for 9/10 20th anniversary Golf Tournament. See John Fischer.

Good News from RI: Konrad
Kempfe reported on Colorado District 5470’s effort to assist victims of the
wildfire. Eight clbs have established a Pikes Peak Area Rotary endowment fund
to help individual and business victims, with 100% of the fund used for relief
efforts. .

Sergeant at arms: Konrad Kempfe collected happy fines from himself for his birthday (he
won’t be here on the actual date); Ken Wagner (daughter’s Softball Nationals in
CT, coming in 2nd); John Fischer (Bar Harbor and Ct trips); Chad
Cohrs (leaving early and school starts in a week); Mike Piecuch (vacation with
family); Melissa Laniewski (youngest turning 21); Pat Pinkowski (our guest);
Tom Gates (Dottie and Library Campaign help); Wes Knapp (mad trucker incident);
Joyce Anderson (guests); Donna Schuck (guests and kids coming and going);
Charlie McCuen (golf and additional bd – Editor opps); Nelson Bailey (Konrad’s
bd and in law travels); Bill Clark (Dottie and son’s golf); and Earl Ferster
(+15 and guests).
