Aug. 23, 2012: With John Stokinger presiding, twenty-four
Rotarians were present for a presentation by
Susquehanna University Football Coach, Steve Briggs. He was accompanied by
local high school graduate and Susquehanna football player, Mike Ritter. Mike
is one of three former SEALS on the team, along with several players from other
region four schools. Steve has been at Susquehanna for 24 years, and considers
Selinsgrove his home at this point. This season he had 119 players show up for
pre-camp, now at 110. Now part of the Centennial League, this promises to be an
interesting season with six home games. Dave Lawer was the host for this
interesting program.

are extended to those who assisted Pat Pinkowski at the first Football booster
festival this past Sat.***Golfers still needed for 9/10’s 20th
anniversary Golf Tournament. A sheet will be circulated for volunteers for the
day of the event. Don Summers is seeking items for gifts for players.***See
President Donna for information about the 9/8 foundation dinner and seminars to
be held in Hagerstown.****A signup sheet for purchase of ice cream, etc. for
Market St. Festival (9/22) was circulated. We will have two booths – one
selling food items and one to promote Rotary and collect for Polio Plus.*****Ken Miller announced that members who want
fire wood from the cut trees at the field need to pick this up before Monday.*******Thanks
to Art for the M & M’s – marketing for membership reminder.

Good News of Rotary International: Konrad shared information about a Lake Elsimore
CA and Nagaland, India program. For the better part of a decade, Steve and
Vicky Wallace have worked to provide turbine power and water to a community in
Manipur.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows: himself (student atheletes);
Mike Flock (grandson and the Outer Banks); Dave Lawer (speakers and Bob Soper’s
work at the field); Donna Long (niece’s return to the area); John Thompson
(increase in Hams in the family); Charlie McCuen (successful heart procedure);
Tom Gates (speakers and grandkids starting kindergarden); John Fischer (good
trip to Bar Harbor); and John Stokinger (football booster event at Rotary field
last Saturday – thanks to Pat).
