program featuring the Rev. Sue Jamison, Development Officer with Albright Care
Services and Lewisburg Sunrise Club Rotarian. Rev. Jamison shared historical
back ground and recent additions to services. Started on the sight of the
Slifer House in early 1900 by the Evangelical Church to care for orphans and
elderly, in addition to this being the beginning of what is now Evangelical
Community Hospital (becoming an independent board and operation and given to
the community in 1945) and Riverwoods, which includes independent, personal
care and nursing care services for the elderly. The orphanage operated from
1921 to 1959. The latest endeavor is Albright LIFE (Living Independently For
Elders), supported by private donations, Medicare and Medicaid, through the
state of PA. Go to AlbrightLIFE.org for additional information on this program
