Nov. 1, 2012: Twenty-seven Rotarians were present as Chad Cohrs presided
and Michael Damiano presented a program entitled Outlook and Opportunities,
Preparing for the Road Ahead. Basic recommendations for those investing: stay
diversified, rebalance your portfolio, stay focused on the long term, and
consider investing in companies that are charting their own course. The Nominating
Committee (Pat Pinkowski, Wes Knapp and Chad Cohrs, Chair) announced the
following slate of officers/directors for 2012-13: President – Wesley Knapp;
President Elect – Chad Cohrs; Vice President – Dave Lawer; Treasurer – Jared
Roush; Secretary – Hal Dunkleberger; Past President – Donna Schuck; Avenues of
Service Directors: Club – Art Bowen; Community – John Stokinger and Melissa
Laniewski; Vocational – Toby Skinner; International – Konrad Kempfe. Open is
the new New Generations Avenue of Service. Elections will occur at the Annual
Meeting held 11/15, with call for nominations from the floor occurring on 11/8
and 15.

 

Announcements: Rotary Tree Fest book for 2012 is Johnny
Appleseed
. Dottie Anderson, Pat
Pinkowski and Toby Skinner are the committee members. Tree Fest will take place
in the renovated Selinsgrove Library and Borough Building Nov. 30 to Dec. 14;*Mike
Piecuch and Mike Flock are developing a new group – Snyder County Coalition for
Kids – see either of them for additional information;**Joyce Anderson announced
the Children and Youth initiative for this week is hats, gloves or mittens,
scarves and new or clean gently used coats for children or adults.***The
District newsletter was circulated and see President for additional information
about Lewisburg Sunrise bouquet fundraiser.

 

Good News of Rotary International: Konrad reported that 200 winterized tents and
Shelter Boxes are being set up in Kurdistan region of Iraq for Syrian refugees.

 

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines from: Dave Lawer (that we were
spared the worst of Sandy); Chad Cohrs (missing the worst of Sandy, success of
fall sports teams); Hal Dunkleberger (Earl’s help); Konrad Kempfe (Jared’s
“first” newsletter); Mary Peterhaensel (late); Charlie McCuen (Tigers); Wes
Knapp (missed by Sandy); Dottie Anderson (Jared and Melissa for newsletter editing);
Joyce Anderson (Jared, speaker); Sheri Hoffman (kids back in school); Bob Soper
(Rotary archive files and new library); Art Bowen (Salvation Army equipment at
club); and Earl Ferster (safe from storm and +15)
