Nov. 8, 2012: Twenty Rotarians were present as Rose Weir,
Administrator of Snyder County Children and Youth Services described the
mission and work of the agency. Mike Piecuch hosted the program. Along with the
goal of investigating/assessing the health, safety and abuse/neglect issues,
the social workers provide hands on assistance to families, sustaining children
in their homes whenever possible. Donna Schuck, reporting for the Committee
nominatedthe following slate of 2012-13
officers/directors: President – Wesley Knapp; President Elect – Chad Cohrs;
Vice President – Dave Lawer; Treasurer – Jared Roush; Secretary – Hal
Dunkleberger; Past President – Donna Schuck; Avenues of Service Directors: Club
– Art Bowen; Community – John Stokinger and Melissa Laniewski; Vocational –
Toby Skinner; International – Konrad Kempfe. A call for nominations from the floor brought
forth no additional nominees. Elections will occur next Thursday at the Annual
Meeting following a second call for nominations from the floor.

 

Announcements: Mike Piecuch and Mike Flock announce the development of the Snyder
County Coalition for Kids – first annual meeting will be Dec. 14 at Susquehanna
University from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.*Joyce Anderson announced the completion of the
Children and Youth holiday initiative and reported receiving sufficient funds
to purchase 10 new coats with matching mittons.**PLEASE CALL DONNA SCHUCK ASAP
TO INDICATE IF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HOSTING AN INBOUND ROTARY EXCHANGE
STUDENT. THE BOARD IS UNABLE TO ACCEPT AN INBOUND STUDENT UNLESS IT IS KNOW
THAT WE HAVE HOSTS.

 

Good News of Rotary International: Konrad Kempfe reported on the work of several
Clubs in collecting and distributing supplies and aid to those in NYC and NJ
effected by Sandy.

 

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines from: Donna Schuck and Jerry Rhoads
for their Birthday (in addition Donna paid for Rick’s birthday, Joyce’s work,
son safe after evacuation, and Jerry paid to ask for a fun male bridge
partner); himself (high voter turnout); Mike Piecuch (speak and library
opening); Dave Lawer (speaker and Joyce); Toby Skinner (birthdays and library);
Bob Soper (Joyce); Bill Clark (ditto); Nelson Bailey (visiting son); Joyce
Anderson (speaker and her work); John Reed (leaving early); and Earl Ferster
(+15, Joyce, and successful turkey hunt).
