March 7,
2013: Twenty-two Rotarians were present to hear Jennifer
Mattive describe her family’s work at T & D Cats of the World. Opened to the public in 1990, the exotic
animal rescue now houses around 300 animals, 60 of whom are cats on
approximately 35 acres. With no paid employees, and a handful of volunteers,
Jennifer, her father and brother run T & D which is licensed by both the
state and the federal government. Jennifer’s father was a state trooper for 25
years before he fulfilled his dream of providing a place of refuge for
illegally owned wild animals. Dependent on donations and volunteers, the refuge
receives income from admissions on weekends during the summer months. John Stokinger
was the host. A Board Meeting followed the regular meeting.
