: Twenty-four Rotarians were
present to hear Steve Richard, CEO of SUN Home Health and Hospice, describe their
work, with special emphasis on the nature of hospice programs designed to asst
people to live the best possible life while they can. SUN Home Health and
Hospice provides both nursing and other care personal services for those being
cared for at home. The use of electronic records enables nurses to have access
to a patients hospital records providing a continuity of care that wouldn’t be
possible without the use of technology. SUN Home has 8 offices located
throughout their fourteen county service area. SUN Home’s hospice area at
Sunbury Community Hospital has been well received and provides an additional
avenue of service. Sherri Hoffman was the host. Wes Knapp presided. Daffodil
Day items were distributed and paid for. The remaining flowers will be taken to
Grayson View by Earl Ferster.

 

Announcements: District
Conference is scheduled for 4/26-28 in Gettysburg.*The distinguished service
award dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. on 4/18 at the SVCC. Guests and partners
welcome. This is the last week for giving Art nominations.**Art Bowen has
potential speakers if hosts need assistance in identifying a speaker.***Dave Lawer reported on the War Near the
Susquehanna Shore fund raiser with other Clubs and 13 auto dealerships that
will go on all of April and raise money for the dental clinic. Watch for
advertisements and say thank you to the participating dealerships for their
generosity.

News from Rotary:
Konrad Kempfe reported on Rotary in the
Ukraine, where the first club was formed in 1992. There are now 24 Rotaract
Clubs for people 18-30 performing a variety of service projects such as working
with medical centers in rural areas, visiting nursing homes, etc. The future of
Rotary is bright in the Ukraine.

 

Sergeant at arms: Konrad collected happy fines from: Dave Lawer (trip
with buddies to Myrtle Beach); Melissa Laniewski (FL trip and Polish
relatives); John Fischer (Mike Flock’s work with SACF, 27 apps with only $5000
to give in grants); Brian Neitz (Dave Lawer’s work on fundraiser); John Stokinger
(Art and Bill Bowen picture, MS awareness walk); Joyce Anderson (speaker); Bob
Soper (three grandsons are Eagle Scouts); Art Bowen (speaker and recent trips);
Donna Long (niece, MS walk); Wes Knapp (Dave Lawer, PETS training, College
Board meeting; Bucknell basketball); Charlie McCuen (daughter’s peace studies);
Sherri Hoffman (Steve Richard, being back, daughter’s debut and son’s 9th
bd); Nelson Bailey (grandson, no call from mil); and Earl Ferster (+15 and daffodil
sales).
