Peace through Service
Vol. 86, No. 39
President – Donna Schuck Editor – Dottie Anderson
Next Meeting: April 18,
2013 – 6:00 p.m. at the SVCC, Distinguished Service Award Dinner honoring Kay
Spigelmyer. Art Bowen is the host. Call or e-mail Art by Monday if you’ve
missed signing up. Partners/spouses, guests welcome for this very special event
in the Rotary year. John Stokinger will edit the newsletter.
2013: Twenty-eight Rotarians were
present as new member Jeff Schaum (finally) presented his
vocational/classification talk. Sheri Hoffman was the host. It was fun and
informative to hear a bit about Jeff’s personal, service, and professional
life. As President and CFO of Kreamer Feed since last August, he enjoyed
sharing about projects such as the new mill, the goal of becoming the largest
supplier of organic feed east of the Mississippi, updating technology, etc.
Jeff commutes to Lancaster in order to continue to care for his father as he experiences
health issues and to be involved in the lives of his son (20, about to enroll
at the Berkeley School of Music following some time at Bucknell) and daughter
(16 and learning to drive), in addition to a wide variety of volunteer service
activities. Jeff describes himself as a spiritual person and this infuses his
work with a homeless shelter program, teaching financial management in an
afterschool program, etc. There isn’t enough room in the newsletter to fully
describe Jeff’s past jobs and “lessons learned.” Suffice it to say, he is a
Rotarian in the way he pursues his life and his vocation.
Bowen has potential speakers if hosts need assistance in identifying a speaker.*The War Near the Susquehanna Shore fund
raiser with other Clubs and 13 auto dealerships started on April 1 to raise
money for the dental clinic. Continue to watch for advertisements and radio
announcements and say thank you to the participating dealerships for their
generosity.***3rd Annual 5K to benefit the Summer SEALS Day Camp is
scheduled for April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Selinsgrove Area School District
Football Field. Put on by the teachers in the program, proceeds help pay for
program field trips. Go to the Summer SEALS website to register on line.
