April 11,
2013
: Twenty-eight Rotarians were
present as new member Jeff Schaum (finally) presented his
vocational/classification talk. Sheri Hoffman was the host. It was fun and
informative to hear a bit about Jeff’s personal, service, and professional
life. As President and CFO of Kreamer Feed since last August, he enjoyed
sharing about projects such as the new mill, the goal of becoming the largest
supplier of organic feed east of the Mississippi, updating technology, etc.
Jeff commutes to Lancaster in order to continue to care for his father as he experiences
health issues and to be involved in the lives of his son (20, about to enroll
at the Berkeley School of Music following some time at Bucknell) and daughter
(16 and learning to drive), in addition to a wide variety of volunteer service
activities. Jeff describes himself as a spiritual person and this infuses his
work with a homeless shelter program, teaching financial management in an
afterschool program, etc. There isn’t enough room in the newsletter to fully
describe Jeff’s past jobs and “lessons learned.” Suffice it to say, he is a
Rotarian in the way he pursues his life and his vocation.
